… has its fundaments in the shared love of throwing ideas around and making music in a way that everything is allowed.

“We actually also call ourselves The Vienna Berlin Music Club – because that is how we see ourselves: as a gathering of people who get along well together, and who have an intense exchange of views in musical matters too. One person alone never could think up all of this.”
Even bevore Philharmonix was founded back in 2007, the members already had known each other for a very long time. “With Stephan Koncz I even played when we were still little kids,” says Ottensamer.
This familiarity is important: “Our way of cooperating and playing together only works when you know instinctively what the others are doing.”
As all seven members are classical musicians in great demand, club meetings only seldom take place. Fortunately the pianist Christoph Traxler is a real genius at organizing.
Usually the Philharmonix meet in Vienna, their musical home, which is also their base for rehearsals.
“We spend a lot of time on tour – and that, too, is time together that we use to develop ideas, write pieces, and experiment a lot.”
